This paper's introduction of intentionally uncertain (fuzzy) text selection using force touch on mobile devices has informed subsequent interaction techniques for pressure-sensitive text selection and multimodal input for active reading, while its characterization of the cognitive costs and interaction challenges of collecting and highlighting information during mobile sensemaking has motivated a range of systems aimed at lightweight information collection during web exploration, reducing disruptions to users' reading flow, streamlining triaging workflows, and bridging unstructured sensemaking with structured decision support, and its observations about user uncertainty in deciding what to capture have been echoed in work on annotation struggles in NLP and imprecision-tolerant highlight rendering.
